Air Sealing is a service that we offer complimentary to all of our install jobs, and can benefit your home by sealing up small-scale penetrations in your attic to help keep out unwanted drafts. You can also opt out of this free service if desired.
We apply and inject foam throughout the attic where needed – This includes recessed lights, plumbing, piping, conduit, or any areas where air can get through. This is most effective to do when the attic is empty, such as following a removal.
Air Sealing is one of the services that we offer complimentary to the majority of our removal jobs,* and can benefit your home by sealing up small-scale penetrations in your attic to help keep out unwanted drafts. You can also opt out of this free service if desired.
We apply foam over areas susceptible to air leakage throughout the attic such as around plumbing, piping, or conduit. This is most effectively done while the attic is empty, such as following a removal, because we can access more of the attic floor and walls.
Air sealing best compliments attics that are insulated with batted, rolled-in Fiberglass because compared to blown-in material options, Fiberglass has significantly less thorough coverage and sealing capabilities on its own so it is benefited by the added foam.
In attics that are insulated with blown-in materials such as Cellulose or Rockwool, air sealing has significantly less impact because those materials naturally seal well on their own. This is because blown-in materials cover everything, including joists, in what we refer to as a ‘monolithic fill’ which is an industry term for a continuous blanket of coverage without gaps. Also, because blown-in materials can be projected up to 20 feet, they easily reach difficult areas such as tight corners, plumbing, piping, and conduit – creating an effective seal without the need for added foam. We will still make a priority of sealing up any holes that we see as needing attention such as holes large enough for light to shine through.
*Air Sealing, Rodent Sealing, and/or Disinfecting are complimentary for most homes. A fee will be charged for homes requiring extensive air sealing, rodent sealing, and/or disinfecting.
